And so the two-hour series finale begins.
The pacing is great on Quantico Season 3 Episode 12. Nothing is rushed. The team took their time coming up with a plan of attack and did their research, which was nice to see.
With Maisie being kidnapped and everyone's vendettas against Devlin, it wouldn't have been surprising if the team went in guns blazing. Ryan, especially, is known to throw caution to the wind and attack.
Thankfully, that was not the case in Ireland.
They proved why they are this elite team. They put up a whole murder board within, assumedly, a couple of hours. That's dedication.
The team scoped out their targets and found an excellent way in. They did some A+ detective work. Was anyone else proud of them?
Alex: You think you're the first animal I'm up against? I've been hunted, imprisoned, chased to the end of the world. I'm still here.
Devlin: So am I, love.
It was fun to shake up the scenery. Ireland is gorgeous, so the countryside was nice to look at.
Being in Ireland also meant that the team was on their own. They don't carry any authority over local law enforcement, and they aren't able to call in for back up whenever they need it, not that they call in for help often.
The change in scenery also means the team isn't familiar with the locale. They don't have any hideouts or resources at their disposal, and it's entertaining to watch them make do with what they could. They end up with a pretty nice new safe house.

The scene where they are all running to get the best room is a much-needed dose of levity.
As soon as Fiona pushed for backup, alarm bells went off. She was far too pushy about it, so it wasn't a surprise that she was revealed to be working with/dating Devlin.
However, until then, no red flags were raised, so it was a decent twist. We didn't have any reason to doubt Fiona because she had been nothing but helpful.
Devlin: Justice is a fickle mistress, isn't she?
Mike: Son of a bitch.
Devlin: You're not wrong. She was a bit of a bitch, me ma.
Plus, there was also the fact that going into "Ghosts," you knew that it was a two-part series finale, and it appeared as if everything was running too smoothly up until the betrayal. There's gotta be something for the team to do next time!
Fiona being MI5 (...she is actually MI5, right?) and being on Devlin's side further highlighted how dangerous Devlin is as a bad guy. He's got friends in all the right places, as Mike, unfortunately, experienced first hand.
Devlin's also willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants, which in this case is revenge.

This is why it wasn't at all surprising that Devlin would kill his own brother. Eamon had been in Devlin's way for the majority of the hour, and it was clear that Devlin did not enjoy someone telling him what he could or could not do.
Andrea and Isabella coming back was a surprise. Of course, it would happen right as Alex moved on and slept with Mike. The timing is a bit much, but this is Quantico.
Devlin's plan is still a little fuzzy. He wants Ryan, but he kidnapped two people important to Alex. Is he hoping that Alex will give up Ryan in exchange for Andrea and Isabella's safety?
No one knows we're coming. We're ghosts. Let's keep it that way.Alex
It would've made more sense to kidnap that Ryan cares about...Shelby or Alex. Devlin has proven to be a very smart man, so he's definitely got some trick up his sleeve.
Still, it will be good to see Andrea and Isabella come back into play. Their return will force Alex to think about on what she wants her life to be like, and it will also bring up the trauma of losing her child.
There's a lot of potential for some great Alex growth; it's a shame that there's only going to be one episode to cram it all into. Speaking of one episode, is anyone else a little afraid that we might get a cliffhanger ending?

Hopefully, we at least close a chapter, and we don't end on someone potentially dying.
Going back to Alex and Mike, the timing on their ship sailing was pretty darn good.
If Andrea wasn't going to pop back into Alex's life soon, I'd say that Mike could be good for Alex. Honestly, anyone who is not Ryan is good for Alex.
Mike: There weren't any blankets in my room. It was pretty cold.
Alex: Is that so?
Mike: Yeah, I thought you might have an extra.
Alex: Nope, just the one.
Mike: That presents a problem.
Alex: Not for me.
It does look like the Ryan and Alex chemistry/tension/romance is finally over with. Can I get an amen?!
This isn't to say that Ryan and Shelby have won over our hearts yet because that relationship still doesn't quite make sense, but Ryan and Alex not together is a victory for us and for both characters.
Lastly, Maisie and Harry delivered some stellar emotional scenes. We haven't known Maisie for long, but she has definitely made an impact.
Harry, I have never been more glad to see those ears.Alex
Did anyone else find themselves tearing up when they finally reunited? I definitely did.
